Spring Texas is located north of Houston. Even though a large amount of northern Harris county is considered Spring, technically the original town of Spring is a small area now known as "Old Town Spring" which is located at the intersection of Spring Cypress and the Hardy roads.

The International and Great Northern Railroad were opened in 1871, which was built through Spring, and caused its expansion. The Spring Independent School District serves Spring Texas. Some of the schools that service Spring are Klein Oak High School, Twin Creeks Middle School, George E Anderson Elementary School, and The Woodlands High school as well as many others. The Lonestar College System has a campus in Spring Texas as well.
