Of all the Thanksgiving traditions, none is more anticipated than sitting down to dinner. Whether in the kitchen cooking or in the den watching football – the aromas wafting through the house are enough to make us all a little crazy waiting for the food to be ready!
As with all of our favorite holidays, traditional Thanksgiving celebrations are filled with well-loved customs and special memories. Some traditions are historical, some cultural, and some are specific to our own family – but each one is anticipated eagerly.
The cornucopia – – “horn of plenty,” a symbol of food, abundance, the harvest, and Thanksgiving. It dates back to the 5th century B.C., where according to Greek mythology, the horn belonged to Almathea.
On November 26, the country will celebrate another Thanksgiving holiday. Even though Houston doesn’t get to enjoy the spectacular colors that are synonymous with fall and New England, the season is upon us, and in true Texas style, we celebrate Thanksgiving on a grand scale.
