February Designated to Celebrate Weddings

weddingsWhen you think of the perfect month to celebrate weddings, what month comes to mind? According to the National Association of Bridal Consultants, National Wedding Month is February, a fact that may seem surprising to some. Across the country, winter is not the most popular time to host a wedding. Still, here at Breen’s Florist, we do think there are many valid reasons that this month is a great one to celebrate the institution.

Quick Trivia: There are approximately 2.4 million weddings annually – or an average of 6,200 ceremonies per day. That is a lot of wedding cake!
weddingsValentine’s Day is the reigning holiday of romance, and as such, it generates a lot of activity regarding weddings.

Will You? For one, there are a large number of wedding proposals on February 14th. And while the day does trail behind Christmas and New Years in this regard, it still inspires quite a few engagements, approximately 6 million couples annually.

Time to Get To Work: Because of all those holiday proposals, February is the month that brides start their serious wedding planning. If you are planning a Houston wedding for the summer or fall, February is the perfect time to begin speaking to Breen’s Florist about your flowers.

The Perfect tIme Say You Will:  Valentine’s Day is also one of the most popular days on the calendar to actually tie the knot.

You Can Have a Truly Rare February Anniversary: Once every four years, couples are afforded the opportunity to get married on another highly coveted date for nuptials – February 29th. This leap year anniversary definitely can be the catalyst for some interesting discussions with the kids and grandkids.

The Number Keeps Growing: With the popularity of a February wedding on Valentine’s Day, America has an ever-increasing population of people celebrating their anniversary on that day. It is actually one of the few dates that people choose regardless of the day of the week, with some choosing to have a small private ceremony to say they were married on Valentine’s Day, then a big party for family and friends on the closest weekend day.

But if You Are Celebrating a February Anniversary: For those who were married on the iconic holiday,  the temptation may arise to combine the two occasions into one dinner, or one floral bouquet. This is a big taboo, however. (Think of the poor child whose birthday falls on Christmas Day). Think of creative ways to separate the two events, and while roses are perfect for Valentine’s Day, there are many other choices for your anniversary dinner.

February is National Wedding Month, and we think you can see why. Here in Houston, Breen’s Florist is the place to go for all your florals, no matter the month or the occasion. We make them all special.
